Brand History

Paolo Scanu opened the Studio Scanu design office in 1983. During his career the designer has participated in many important yacht projects, among which were some of the most expensive and largest in the world. The high quality of his work and his ability to understand the client helped to build a long term relationship with the owners. Half of the clients returned to Paolo for their second or third yacht.

Philosophy

Paolo does not like to talk much, but prefers to listen more. He manages to carefully circumvent the constraints imposed by the technical features of shipbuilding and to create elegant, timeless forms.

Specialty

Scanu Studio worked with exterior and interior design, was engaged in superyacht naval architecture. Also the portfolio has several refits.

Cooperation with shipyards

The company has designed classic sailing yachts for Bod-Yat, Vos Marine and Danish Yachts. The modern style superyachts were commissioned by Alloy Yachts. For motor boats the studio cooperated with Blohm & Voss, CRN, CBI Navi, Benetti, Baglietto, Dearsan, Astilleros Armon, CCYD, Rybinsk shipyard, Aico, PR Marine etc.

Landmark projects

The largest project for the firm was the 105-meter Lady Moura. The team designed hull of a luxurious sloop Georgia, worked on the design of a futuristic Alfa One, etc. Paolo also designed the exterior and architecture for a Russian-made superyacht - Forty Two.

Team

The studio office was located in Viareggio, Italy, where a small staff worked with Paolo. At present, the company is not operating.
