Y3K is the second yacht launched in the Wally 100-foot series. She was created for a very experienced German yachtsman, who already owned Wally yachts, the third project by Hermann Frerer Sr. for this client. One of the owner's requirements was that the yacht should race according to IRC rules. The latest technology and construction materials allowed to reduce the displacement of this boat to only 57 tons and the very large sail area resulted in a yacht with very high power capabilities. On a full course a three meters long bowsprit can be pulled out of the hull allowing for a gennaker and an additional increase in sail area. The interiors are designed in the characteristic Wally style, with large light surfaces with bright spots, clear geometric shapes and lines.
