Bolero is an artful stylization of the classic ocean racing yachts of the 1950s that was built for an American "czar" (as the wealthy yachtsmen living in Newport are sometimes called). For a time this boat was even the flagship yacht of the New York Yacht Club. In 2000, the boat changed hands and underwent a major rebuild. She has crossed the Atlantic many times since. Oliven Stephens described Bolero 10 years ago as an example of the best practical (i.e., fit for everyday use) yacht built from wood.
